My boss, Ralph, took us fishing this weekend. The silver salmon season is open but the water is a little cold and no one in the area has caught many. The water was a little rough, 5-7ft swell on 5 seconds. Keri and I had taken sea sickness pills the night before so we were fine. After trolling for salmon for a while we droped off a couple of crab pots and tried to catch some ling-cod, also with no success. While the crab pots were soaking we ran up the bay a little and saw some harbor seals sunning on a beach. We were able to get up close with the little trolling motor. Keri used the telephoto lense to get some good shots of the seals. When we picked up the crab pots there were a number of crabs in the pots however they were mostly females and only a couple of the males were large enough to keep. It was a good day out on the water. WaterFall
Today we went to Golden and Silver Falls State Park. Its only 24 miles from town but it takes nearly an hour of winding on narrow logging roads to get there. We hiked, to both waterfalls. Each was between 150- 200 feet of drop and 20 -25 feet wide. Trails lead to the base of each falls and another trail leads to the top of the falls where you can see the falls drop away from you and into the valley below! You can see more photos from the trip on picasa.

Tall Ship Lynx and Mingus Park
The tall ship Lynx was in town this weekend. We went down to the boardwalk to see it on Saturday afternoon. It is a replica of civil war blockade runner built in 2001. They are on their way to Portangeles soon to particapate in the tall ship races in two weeks. More pictures of the Lynx here .
Mingus Park is just a short 1/2 mile down the hill from our house. The park has a large duck pond, with lots of ducks the puppies desprately wish they could chase! There is a cool Japanese garden section in the park as well. More pictures here here.
Shore Acres/Sunset Bay
We went out to the coast agian today. We explored a different area where we could get down to the rocky shore while the tide was out. The puppies had great fun being mountian dogs, climbing on the rocks and rolling in seaweed. Keri and I are learnig more about photography using the SLR. We took some photos of a small water fall will a long shutter time to make the water look cool. Next time we need to remember to bring a tripod for that sort of thing. Keri likes to take picures of waves crashing on the rocky shore. We will be sure to get out after the next bit of weather to get pictuers of BIG waves! You can see all the photos from this outing here , and there are more pictures from our other adventures on our picasa page.

Yard Work!
I broke down and decided that I had to beat down the jungle that was forming in the backyard before it took over the world and Coaly and Zephy got lost in it. I got a cheap electric weed wacker at Wal-Mart. Its not much but it will sufice to keep the jungle at bay.
Test 2
Test 2 was taken in our backyard. Spender Pants are even further down the page. We where going to go to the Cape Arago Light House to take photos last night but, we must have missed the turn off because before too long the road ended and we where at Cape Arago State Park. It was still pretty cool. Drew posted a link to some of the photos.

Sunset Beach
The dogs had a wonderful time here and I finial realized what a tie pool was. Huuuummm to think pools of water left over from high tied… who would have guess it would be that?? I don’t know if this is equal to or worse than last week when Drews mom Barb mentioned above had to teach me how to use an umbrella. (I do use my umbrella Susan and my U jacket all the time thanks again CRS)
Better photos of everything to come next week with the arrival of our new Nikon D40 and Alien Wear Computer. Did I mention almost all of our computers did not survey the move! Drews old lap top only charges if the charger is vertical my Old lap top will only run if it not moving so it is a great DVD player as long as you don’t move it and it stays hocked up to the TV. The Coaly Cam Computer is umm missing I guess don’t know the status of that one and our Desk Top overheated and no longer runs. And i had to give my work computer to Amy. So stay strong Vaio Because your all that is left!
New doesn’t mean better!!
Today we took at ride in the truck along the beach to see the New Carissa before they start trying to remove it. The rumor is that they will start tonight. They built the structure outside of our front window. Last night we notice the two 70 feet cranes where missing and we could see a whole lot more water. The New Carissa was a cargo ship that ran aground during a storm in back in 1999. It later started to come apart. At one point they attempted to tow the bow section of the ship out to sea; however, that attempted failed when the tow line broke. It was again grounded to the beach. Eventually they were able to tow the bow out to sea where it sunk. The Fuel that was on board was burned; sadly a significant amount was spilled causing ecological damage to the coast line. Needless to say they are paying a lot of money to have it removed. Being basically unemployed leaves a lot of time to research the area!
